Army Training Establishments and Historical Monuments in Maharashtra


The Educational Tour to the College of Military Engineering (CME), Kirkee and National Defence Academy (NDA), Kharagwasla in Pune, Armoured Corps Centre & School, Ahemadnagar and Ellora Caves, Aurangabad was organised for the students of Salwan schools, under the aegis of SET from 03-01-2020 to 09-01-2020. It has been a wonderful and lifetime experience for the group of 29 students. The students group was accompanied by two teachers - Ms. Neelima Goyal from SPS Mayur Vihar and Ms. Anuradha Sharma from SPS Trans City Ghaziabad. Hony. Capt. Balwan Singh, from G D SPS, Rajendernagar was given the responsibility to coordinate administrative requirements, to include transport, boarding and lodging. The group was led by Brig. (Dr.) A.K. Tyagi, Director, SPS Mayur Vihar.
It has been a memorable and inspirational experience for the students. It gave them an opportunity to visit the premier Defence Training Establishments, like NDA, CME and ACC & S. Students could closely observe the life of NDA Cadets and Men in olive green. Demonstration of Engineers equipment, laying of different types of bridges in record time against all the odds, laying and breaching of mines with precision, etc. have been registered in the memory lanes of students. Live firing by Tanks and Mechanised Infantry Personnel Vehicles was a unique and most thrilling experience for all. Cavaliers Tank Museum houses the Tanks and other Equipment, some of them of First World War vintage. Patton Tank captured from Pak Army attracted the attention of all. The group got thrilled with the bumpy tank ride, arranged at Ahemdnagar.
The Staff and Group of Students are thankful to Salwan Education Trust for providing this life time opportunity to visit these different places and gain such a wonderful experience. Overall it has been an educative and thrilling experience for all.

 

Visit to CSIR-IGBI

Class XI Medical students attended CSIR-IGBI outreach programme at CSIR, Mathura Road on 2nd December 2019.The students got a rare opportunity to visit and look at the world class infrastructure of these labs and interacted with scientists to get a taste of the excitement of scientific research.
Students visited the Lab where research is being carried out on Zebra fish to study the impact of various human disorders and their treatment. They also visited the Labs of Biotechnology where they were familiarised with the research equipment such as Autoclaves in which the glass apparatus is sterilised under very high temperature and pressure, Centrifuge machines which use high velocity to separate components from solutions, Spectrophotometers which find optical densities of biological samples, Cold storage refrigerators and many more..
Students were also shown different kinds of microscopes including electron microscope.
The students, accompanied by Ph.D. scholars, were taken on a guided tour to have a glimpse of the facilities at IGIB. This Hands On workshop lent students a good exposure of the various areas of research and infra-structure available in these world class laboratories. In our country number of students pursuing research has seen a down fall in the recent times. These kind of visits surely encourage and motivate the school students to look towards research with a fresh perspective.

 

Visit to CSIR-NPL


The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), celebrated its foundation day on 30th September 2019. On this occasion, CSIR-NPL opened its doors for school and college students to explore the state of art experimental facilities of the laboratory and various research fields. 30 students got an opportunity to visit CSIRNPL on its foundation day. It was an eye opener to them. They got a chance to see several methods to separate air pollutants in atmosphere in Radio and Atmospheric Sciences and were also amazed to see new method of collection of representative air samples. They also got a chance to practically see the devices such as rotary pump etc. to measure pressure from Giga Pascal to micro pascal and got to know how the machines are calibrated to measure blood pressure. It was followed by pump probe spectroscopy, He/⁴He dilution refrigerator and few more devices which enriched the overall learning experience of everyone.

 

The launch of Chandrayaan – II


Students from classes VIII to XII, along with two teachers got an opportunity to visit Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, the Spaceport of India (ISRO) to witness the launch of Chandrayaan – II in the month of July 2019. They also visited space museum, gallery and exhibition where they gained knowledge about contribution of ISRO in space sciences and various missions launched by them. Children were also revealed about the future endeavors of Space Centre.


Visit to Mother Dairy Plant


A trip was organized to Mother Dairy Plant, Patparganj, New Delhi on 29th April 2019. The students of class VII escorted by two teachers Ms. Uzma and Ms. Trapti visited the same in the month of April. At the plant, collection and processing of milk was practically demonstrated. After visiting Mother Dairy, an insight on the nutritional value of milk was given. The elaborate processing and distribution of milk was explained. The different variants of milk were also shown. Students’ querie, were addressed. The visit culminated with a treat of ice creams and flavoured milk.

Astronomy Tour to Sariska Astro Park


Our students attended Astrotourism Star Parties at Astroport Sariska in the month of April 2019, with an aim intend to inculcate a love for astronomy and nature. Children learnt to connect and develop empathy with nature and find oneness with the stars. Students went on nature walk and Astroport tour where they discovered why organic farming should be practiced. Students learnt about the medicinal properties of many plants like Hingot, Adusta etc. Students also learned about the most important aspect of Astronomy i.e., night sky. They understood the difference between refractor and reflector telescope, how a telescope can be aligned towards the celestial objects and the concepts of light pollution, dark adaptation, constellations and asterism. Students got to know new facts about the pole star and they found out that it could be found using two constellations.


NASA TRIP 2017


Salwan Public school, Mayur Vihar has organised an educational trip to NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre, Orlando wherein six students from different classes were accompanied by a chaperon. The main aim and objective of the trip was to know NASA’s history, to get first-hand experience of shuttle launch and to know the latest development in the field of space science. This space program helps to expand our horizons and prepares us to cope with the unknowns that the future may hold.


SARISKA ASTRO PARK


Our students attended Astrotourism Star Parties at Astroport Sariska from 6th May 2017 to 8th May 2017 with an aim intend to inculcate a love for astronomy and nature. Children learnt to connect and develop empathy with the nature and find oneness with the stars. It was an educational trip incorporating learning with fun. Students went on nature walk and Astroport tour where they learnt why organic farming should be practiced. Students learnt about the medicinal properties of many plants like Hingot, Adusta etc. Students did a trek where they did Tehla Fort observation using Binoculars from the hill top, hence learning about the working of binoculars. Students also learnt about the most important aspect of Astronomy i.e., night sky. Students learnt the difference between refractor and reflector telescope, how a telescope can be aligned towards the celestial objects and the concepts of light pollution, dark adaptation, constellations and asterism. They learnt the astronomical importance of directions. Students got to know new facts about pole star and they learnt that it can be found using two constellations. Students found pole star using Ursa Major. Students understood the motion of planets on the celestial sphere. They understood the ecliptic and zodiacal constellations.


NASA TRIP


Four students along with a teacher visited Kennedy Space Centre of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Florida (USA) during summer vacations. The aim of the trip was to give students a firsthand experience of the various activities and provide them a forum to interact with best minds of the world. Entering the simulator and getting the feel of an astronaut in space was a lifetime experience for them. They also got the opportunity to interact with the astronauts. A visit to the top universities like Harvard and MIT was also a part of the trip. Such trips serve as the ground where children are trained for real life experiences and help foster their decision making powers, thereby enhancing their careers.

 

OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY


Outdoor Photography and Sketching session was held in the month of April at National Museum, New Delhi wherein 54 students of classes VI XII participated. The students were briefed in advance on how to click and sketch live sculptures on-the-spot. Their joy knew no bounds as they clicked a large number of amazing pictures with dramatic light and shade. The students gained insight on the historical facts and stories too.

 

EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO RANTHABORE


Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, National Park and the famous Ranthambore Fort are situated in the administrative districts of Sawai Madhopur and Karauli. The dry-deciduous forests of Ranthambore are spread over undulating boundaries of two major hills- the Aravalis and the Vindhyas. Ranthambore has a rich population of animals like- tiger, leopard, caracal, sambar, cheetal, spotted deer, nilgai and chinkara.

 

The Art Camp at Ranthambore constituted the rejuvenating Art workshops which enhanced the creativity of students. In addition to art making, students were also engaged in discussions, live demonstrations and listening to live music, traditional Rajasthani folk dance, photography at Jungle Safari and Bird watching.The Camp reinforced the importance of a creative journey.

 


VISIT TO MC LEODGANJ DHARAMSHALA


An Adventure camp to Mcloedganj and Dharamshala was organized wherein 31 children accompanied by 3 teachers went to the base camp Bhagsunag, set against the backdrop of Dhanladhar range of mountains. The students did 3-4 kms trekking everyday over the rocky terrain, rock climbing, river crossing and rappelling etc



 
TRIP TO VARANASI

Date: 4th May - 09th May, 2016

A team of 22 students and 5 teachers from Salwan Public School, mayur vihar went Varanasi from 4th to 9th May, 2016.

Social Science department had initiated in collaboration with art and photography club to do an intensive study on exploring the city of Varanasi as a part of their curriculum. Besides inculcating a spirit of inquiry towards discovering the rich cultural heritage. They also interacted with scholars and did an independent study on the demography, religion and political structure.





Visit to Chail Himachal Pradesh for Astrophotography Workshop

Date:09th Nov-12th Nov

A visit to Chail,Himachal Pradesh for Astrophotography Workshop was organized by SPS, M.V during the month of Nov.ie 9th Nov. to 12th Nov.2016 for students from classes VI to X. The main aim and objective of the workshop is to understand the flow of the sky, its major objects, to combat light pollution constraints from planning to post, to analyze the image processing chain from photon capture to final image and to understand the relation between astronomy and astrophotography.
